Over the past year, during visits to our key engineering accounts, we kept hearing the same request – users of IDEA StatiCa requested for AS3600 implementation in the Concrete module of IDEA StatiCa. It was a clear priority for nearly every team we spoke with.
The development team took this feedback seriously, and with the release of IDEA StatiCa 25.0, we’re proud to announce that AS3600:2018 is now fully supported in IDEA StatiCa Detail.
To demonstrate what this means in practice, we hit the road. Our Concrete Roadshow took place in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, where we demonstrated how IDEA StatiCa Detail supports AS3600:2018. I was joined by my colleague Khaled Ghaedi, along with Thibault Gouzy and Gene Vallente from the IDEA StatiCa APAC team. Together, we ran hands-on sessions for engineers, designers and project managers keen to explore the new features.
AS3600 is the core standard for concrete design in Australia. It sets out the requirements for structural safety, serviceability, durability and local compliance. Adhering to it is essential for every engineering project in the country.
This is where IDEA StatiCa Detail comes in. It simplifies and automates the complex checks required by AS3600, helping engineers avoid manual errors and save time – all while delivering clear, precise, and compliant designs.
With full AS3600:2018 support, IDEA StatiCa Detail allows engineers to model and verify 2D components including walls, beams, dapped ends, openings, hangings, brackets, diaphragms, and frame joints. It provides detailed ULS and SLS checks, comprehensive reports and a bill of materials.
IDEA StatiCa Detail 2D continues to evolve, delivering powerful new features that improve precision, compliance and ease of use for structural engineers. Here’s a quick look at the latest updates designed to streamline your workflow and strengthen your designs.
Full AS3600:2018 Compliance
IDEA StatiCa Detail now fully supports AS3600:2018 for 2D models, including panels, walls, slabs and joints. Engineers can now verify designs without relying on workarounds or manual checks.
Compatible Stress Field Method (CSFM)
CSFM replaces traditional strut-and-tie approaches with a more precise, consistent method for analysing discontinuity regions. It supports a range of components including walls with openings, 2D pile caps, diaphragms, pier caps and more.
Ready-to-Use Templates
New templates are now available for walls, beams, frame joints, foundations, diaphragms and pier caps. They offer great starting points, especially for new users, and eliminate the need to model everything from scratch.
Additional Enhancements in 25.0
BuildingPoint Australia’s Concrete Launch Tour officially kicked off IDEA StatiCa Detail with AS3600:2018 integration at three venues, Hyatt Regency Brisbane, Rydges World Square, Sydney and Victoria Hotel, Melbourne.
At each stop, attendees experienced:
Over 100 participants joined us across all three venues. A big thank you to everyone who attended and to our hosts for their warm hospitality.
