Trending Construction Tech of 2023: Introducing Connect AR

If you haven’t caught wind of the Trending Construction Tech of 2023: Introducing Trimble Connect AR, let me bring you up to speed. Picture this: augmented reality in your hands, on any device, unveiling detailed 3D designs seamlessly overlaid onto the real world. It’s not science fiction; it’s the game-changing Trimble software that is revolutionising how we approach construction projects.

Now you have seen the clip, let us zoom in on a real-life application of this tech: Buildcorp’s National Rugby Training Centre (NRTC) at Ballymore project. At the helm of this endeavour are multiple industry players like most projects. Our example involves a collaboration between Buildcorp, BuildingPoint Australia and CSD Group. BuildingPoint is your local Trimble partner for innovative construction technology solutions and is responsible for driving adoption of Connect AR in the ANZ (Australia and New Zealand) region. CSD Group is the Steel detailers who 3D modelled all the detailed design for the force that is Buildcorp who are an industry leading construction company.

The NRTC project posed a unique challenge: streamlining collaboration among an extensive array of stakeholders while enhancing project efficiency. However, with the introduction of Connect AR, this challenge was effectively addressed. This innovative software seamlessly integrates augmented reality into the construction process, enabling stakeholders to visualise plans, identify clashes, and make well informed decisions swiftly ensuring design could maintain pace with the construction, avoiding potential delays, and ultimately allowing the project to be delivered on time and within budget.

Collaborative Implementation: Transforming the NRTC at Ballymore with Connect AR

Buildcorp, BuildingPoint, and CSD Group collaborated closely to implement Connect AR, thereby transforming the NRTC project. Consequently, every stakeholder reaped significant benefits. Architects, Blight Rayner, could communicate a clearer understanding of design intent, while engineers and detailers preemptively identified potential clashes, averting costly delays. Additionally, construction teams optimised workflows through enhanced visualisation and planning tools.

But the impact didn’t stop there. By leveraging Connect AR, the project achieved remarkable milestones with accelerated project timelines, reduced costs, and enhanced safety protocols. Every aspect of the NRTC project was elevated by the seamless integration of Connect AR into the construction process.

So, as we reflect on this success story, one thing is clear: the collaboration between all involved in this project has set a new standard for digital construction. Together, it is our responsibility to continue to push the boundaries of innovation, driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety forward in the industry.

Looking ahead, the partnership between BuildingPoint and Buildcorp promises even greater advancements in digital construction. And with Connect AR leading the charge, we aim to create digitalised efficient sites, reduce costs, enhance safety measures, and propel building innovation to new heights.
