Reflecting on Success: Highlights from BuildingPoint’s 2024 Brew & Learn Series

Words by Andrew Farley, General Manager of BuildingPoint Australia.

As the General Manager of Sales and Marketing at BuildingPoint, I am very proud to reflect on the success of our 2024 Brew & Learn series of events across Australia and New Zealand. Launching into 2025, we are excited to build on this momentum.

This success was made possible by the collaborative efforts of our teams, whose exceptional skills and industry knowledge were instrumental. These events allowed us to connect directly with our valued customers and prospective clients, sharing insights into Trimble’s connected construction digital workflows and demonstrating how our solutions integrate to empower the industry.

Strengthening Industry Connections Through Engaging Events

Over the past year, we completed seven events in Australia and five in New Zealand, bringing together professionals across the construction sector in a relaxed and engaging environment, featuring interactive demonstrations, open Q&A sessions, and opportunities for hands-on experience with the latest Trimble technologies.

The informal yet focused format provided an ideal setting for open dialogue, collaboration, and education which are key elements in fostering deeper connections with both existing and potential customers.

Tackling Industry Challenges with Trimble Solutions

The agenda for this year’s Brew & Learn series was tailored to address the rapidly evolving demands of the construction landscape, such as the increasing reliance on digital twins for project visualisation and the growing need for accurate as-built data to streamline project delivery.

A core focus was the growing importance of as-built data capture and the use of point clouds through laser scanning.

Attendees experienced firsthand how Trimble’s solutions streamline the transition from physical to digital, offering unmatched accuracy and efficiency.

SketchUp: The Three Superpowers

We also highlighted the latest advancements in SketchUp, showcasing its AI-driven features that make conceptual design faster and more intuitive. Plus how versatile SketchUp can be by running through it’s “3 Superpowers” – Design, Construction and Sales / Communication.

Complementing this, we demonstrated how point clouds can be integrated into Tekla for highly detailed and precise 3D modelling of structural steel. These workflows not only enhance design accuracy but also lay a robust foundation for downstream processes with fabricators, especially the ones that have discovered the benefits of Tekla Powerfab to run their workshops.

Trimble Connect AR Enhances Job Site Collaboration

Another highlight was the introduction of Trimble Connect AR, which leverages augmented reality to transform job site collaboration. Attendees saw how this new technology fosters better engagement among stakeholders, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring alignment and reducing miscommunication. By integrating these tools into their workflows, our customers can better manage complexity, increase transparency, and drive project success.

Finally, we showcased how the creation of detailed 3D models directly enhances site setout processes. By leveraging Trimble’s solutions like the new Trimble Ri robotic total station for construction, contractors can achieve greater efficiencies, significantly reduce errors, and minimise costly rework by doing their own setout onsite. This is a game-changer for project delivery.

These events reaffirmed the power of face-to-face engagement. Beyond demonstrating the technical capabilities of our solutions, they provided a platform for meaningful conversations about industry challenges and how we can address them together. It was incredibly rewarding to see the enthusiasm from our customers and the genuine interest from prospective clients in learning how Trimble solutions work harmoniously to support their goals.

Plans are already underway for more Brew & Learn events, where we will continue to explore the latest in construction technology and its transformative impact on the industry.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making these events a success. If anyone would like any further information from these events or any of the product solutions or workflows, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Here’s to another big year of innovation, collaboration, and growth!
